The Company's sole focus has been the design, development, and manufacture of superior safety products for the prevention of slips and falls. SAFEGUARD® Hi-Traction Covers are designed to outperform every other product in the industry in terms of overall effectiveness, ease of installation and lifetime durability. The company has been awarded two patents covering the manufacturing of their steel based products.
Safeguard Technology was founded by Merv Litzow, who has an extensive background in the chemical industry. He has translated his unique knowledge and experience into the development of an outstanding safety product line.
Safeguard's initial product incorporated a stainless steel base. In 1994 galvanized steel products were added and in 1999 a line of products bonded to Pultruded FRP Composite Fiberglass was introduced, followed later by vinyl with a self-adhesive backing. Additional product innovations include Pipe and Cable Covers, and Descriptive Marking available on Safeguard's entire product line. Customers continue to benefit from this extensive range of SAFEGUARD Hi-Traction Covers.
In 1998, a major product development program culminated in the introduction of HiGlo-Traction™, which provided an additional safety feature… "glow-in–the-dark" properties. This feature provides safe egress in case of a power failure in addition to preventing slips and falls.
Initially SAFEGUARD Covers were designed for industrial use but the Company subsequently modified its product offering to meet the safety needs of commercial and residential applications. Today, these markets continue to be a driving force behind ongoing product development programs. In 2006 the Company introduced a new line of contemporary earth tone colors, designated Premium Colors. These were developed to fit the aesthetic requirements for schools, commercial offices, institutional buildings, hotels, apartment buildings, and residences.
Safeguard Technology has since added Anti-Slip Tapes and Floor Mats to its product line. Roll-Traction™, and gritted Industrial Mat-Traction™ floor mats have recently been introduced to its High-Traction offerings.
